Plataianus considered himself well above the law confiscating whatever he liked, exiling or killing what he didn't. Even Cevaris's allies began to grow concerned about the unchecked hubris of good Plataianus. Throughout this period any attempt to convince the Emperor that his prefect was turning into something of a monster was met with a dismissive hand.
