Can Republicans Regain a Foothold in California?
In the 1980s and 1990s, there was a vibrant and strong party that was present throughout California. Now you find strength in pockets, but some of that infrastructure was allowed to atrophy during the mid-to-late 2000s. There's an interesting disconnect between what political elites in California want to do and what I would argue the median California wants to do. The policy elites driven primarily by a very strong strain of progressivism throughout the state have engaged in a series of policy changes that are quite extreme.
