In 1983 Neil Tennant was working as a music journalist at Smash Hits magazine. Blue Mundy came in and he put it on the office record player. He thought, how can these mancunient heterosexuals know about this? They've beaten us to it. It was quite a big moment, but of course it's a brilliant record. Years later we discovered that we all had very similar record collections and had been taking inspiration from them.
