Dostoevsky's novel is a critique of the possibility of putting into practice ethical perfection. It can be a critique of Jesus, but it's not against Jesus. The prince has a very hard time dealing with society doesn't always obey the rules of just be good all the time. People can despise you for your goodness. And Michigan just can't deal with that kind of reality.
