Should We Suture Animal Bites?
The big question that always comes up, do they need prophylactic antibiotics? Justin: Yeah, and honestly, we could probably have done an entire journal jam on just this issue. The evidence, like almost everything we've talked about is not going to be strong enough to make a strong claim either way. So we need to use judgment. We need to talk to our patients. I suture any of those big gaping bikes from animals for cosmetics and really leave small punctures alone.
