How to Prepare Your Students for a Portfolio
The typical concept artist's portfolio is 90% rough work and 10% flashy. But when you're working in a studio, in pipe one kind of production, that ratio can be closer to 80-20. When people are unfamiliar with how these projects get made, it's really not clear what direction they want to take. It's something that the industry doesn't always make very clear about. And so I don't want to sound like a giant hypocrite here having to explain why the flashy stuff isn't important.
