The Importance of Language in Practice
Wittgenstein coins the term language game to make us see that language means nothing unless there are human practices sustaining and giving meaning to them. He says, of course, we sometimes name things, but we also pray and thank and curse or discuss architectural drawings or act in a play or preach - these are other language games. So say we're moving from languages names and representation to language as action and expression, as you use. That's excellent. I'm not saying the tradition after Cavvel Austin and Wittgenstein today is what I'm talking about. It has such enormously far-reaching ramifications'
