In the book of Ruth, Naomi is told that she left full and then came back empty. The Israelites end up going to Moab where they take two sons who were forbidden from marrying women by the Torah. They run right into the jaws of death when their father-in-law dies in a famine. In her own words, Naomi says: "I had no doubt I would see my children again"
