How to Talk About Your ADHD to People

Parents of boys with ADHD are more likely to feel stigmatized by others, which in turn increases negative perceptions of ADHD itself and the treatment of it. Good evidence-based information needs to be delivered in a neutral and accessible and understanding way. We need institutional training in the workplace in education. It might be more important to get across how it feels to have ADHD rather than the specific science of it. The most rewarding thing is when somebody comes up and says, I'm here with my son, my mum, my partner, etc. And they really get it now. Those day-to-day impacts on your life, that's what we need to communicate.
