Aristotle's Paradigma in Rhetoric

Aristotle defines epigoge as the transition from particulars to universals. He never uses it to mean a mere generalization made acceptable by an accumulation of particulars. The universalis something intelligible wholly and precisely present in a single perceptual experience of a particular. And for grasping it, a single instance is sufficient. Even if more facilitates discovery, nothing needs to be built up from separate pieces of evidence.
