Part of what makes the film work is that the modernity is very funny but it's very ingeniously funny. The furniture also is absurd like he has these amazingly strange looking sofas which are just on the edge of plausibility. Throughout there are these absurd chairs which are all yeah. But they're all sort of versions of real chairs. Yeah, they just pushed a little bit to the limit.
