The Antithetical to Free Markets
I tend not to call it crony capitalism so much as cronyism. The idea is that cronyism can sit on top of a capitalist system or a socialist system. It's about using influence to co-op the state to force people to behave the way you want them to behave. So this idea of crony capitalism is antithetical to free markets.
