History That Doesn't Suck

CHAPTER

The Red Baron and the Flying Circus

Munfreet von Ritovin, aka the Red Baron, scored 80 aerial victories in April 1917 alone. Orville Wright became the first person to achieve flight in a heavier than air gas powered, piloted flying machine at Kitty Hawk on March 23, 1903. The airplane went from barely being a possibility to soaring through the air with machine guns in a little more than a decade. In episode 124 we meet an all-American squadron flying under the French tri-color, Les Cadri-Ameri-Ken or Lafayette Escadri. We'll hear of a harrowing death in the skies and take note of how the Great War overhauls America's barely in existence air force
