The Importance of Passion in Historical Criticism
I don't think I ever got talked out of being passionate about the text by that enterprise, which is partly why your thought of as Old Testament theologian as much as an Old Testament scholar is not right. A&As, you know, most very many Old Testament scholars never get around to theological questions because they're always dealing with preliminary questions. So now I say the difference between a sermon and a lecture is about 30 minutes.
