Did John Stonehills Fake His Death Once?
John Stonehills was a privy counsellor and wanted to set up his own bank. He went to the governor of the Bank of England for help, but he didn't get it. It's just an incredible story because he then dies on television, is that right? Yeah, this is a sad part of the story. Eventually they did get the licence, yes, they needed a certificate to practice. And that was actually why it was very important that this share issue was portrayed as being a success,. They did get it in the end from the Department of Trade.
