Doing Away With the Anti-Defection Law
There is a sense that if one was to do away with the anti-defection law it would become even more difficult for opposition political parties. The idea is that MPs and MLAs should vote according to their constituents' interests. But at this point of time in the recent example that comes to mind is the farmers' issue. Even if an MP felt that the law was going against constituencies' interests and against their own institute, they could not have bypassed or gone against the whip.
