Uncle Thum never performed again and spent the remaining years of her life struggling with her declining health. She died of heart failure on February 3, 1975. To this day, festivals are held in Uncle Thum's name. Her music is played in cafes and restaurants all over Egypt,. There's even a street named after her in Jerusalem.
