The reason the regulators are getting so aggressive now is because they see that Congress isn't going to do anything positive or negative. So they see Congress as being stymied. The FTX collapse and all the other things that happened last year, that gives them a lot of political clout to do that. But the House or the Senate could rightfully say, hey, you guys are actually overstepping your authority here. Your job as a regulator is to enforce the law. It's not to create new laws. What are you doing? Stop doing that.
