Aslan Ruznichi helped hundreds of Jews escape to safety during the Second World War. He forged identity papers for Jewish refugees and paid for them to cross into Albania from Kosovo. Some Albanians went to extraordinary lengths to protect their guests, including a merchant who plied soldiers with wine until they were drunk.
