Health Inequalities - What Role Should GP's Play?
I think a lot of GP's feel they don't have the headspace to do this work. We were still receiving inquiries from young people who wanted to work in deprived areas. Sadly, many of them didn't stay because of the funding for deprived practices and it just wasn't good enough. I think there is stuff that needs to be done there in terms of looking at how practice enterprise areas are funded. There is a great deal that you can do in your day-to-day practice, just being aware of what's happening in your patch. You can probably do a lot more than some centralised government can do for communities.
