OpenAI LP - A New for Profit Company

In order to remain relevant and competitive in the fast paced world of AI development, OpenAI was going to have to spend enormous amounts of money on computer systems. It just wasn't possible to do this while also being a strictly not for profit company. In 2018, Elon Musk stepped down from the board of directors. The following year, 2019 saw OpenAI create a new for profit company as a subsidiary.
