The Reflexive Response to Sham
Shame starts off as a two person experience you don't come into the world feeling shame we learn about shame in the presence of another person and then we have the capacity to shame ourselves with nobody else there so it's an inherently relational construct. People will have said my you should be ashamed of yourself or give a look that tells you you haven't met the standards of another person which is again turning something more toward shame. Those early childhood experiences where that where you're not met with a mirroring other is an activator of shame.
