Is Amazon Trying to Synthesize a Relative's Voice?

This week, amazon showed off a project where they could synthesize someone's voice and use that voice to read a story or act as a virtual assistant. There is a lot of research into this and an nthought and behind it, and things like that. I think it's just the way, because it's amazon, and because it's associated with the echois smart speaker, it is extremely, like, off-putting immediately.
