The Risks of Factor Investing in the Stock Market

The idea is it's called factor investing. There are now funds that are available that presumably can smooth out some of these so-called factor risks. The problem is they're actively managed, they're expensive and have underperformed the standard index funds. If you think you can put this together in a portfolio that will do better than just holding everything, which is what an index fund does, I think you're a mistake.
