Is There a Difference Between the Self and Others?
In certain cultures where the primary conceptualisation of the self is relational, that makes quite a bit of difference to how people live and how they see themselves. When you understand the self primarily as relational, rather than atomistic, it's not about subsuming your identity to a collective. Its simply about being more attentive to the ways in which who you are and what matters to you only exist in relation to others.
