The Importance of Rethinking Our Education System
Every year, only 70% of those taking a GCSE exam in maths at 16 will get a grade four or above. So that's 30% of those young people who will have failed. And when they get into post-16 education, it is a game of diminishing returns so only about 20% will then pass. Every year we are condemning thousands of young people to feel a failure in their maths qualifications. It sounds like in the most sort of abstract theoretical sense, you might agree with the Rishi soon, but all of these practical questions mean you fall completely the other way.
