The Guardian's Story on Public Sector Pay Rises
The Guardian's main story today is about public sector pay rises. Jeremy Hunter said to number 10, I don't care what pay awards you decide are OK for the public sector. The Treasury won't pay for them. Cabinet ministers can kind of agree to award teachers or nurses or train workers 6%, 10%. But there won't be any extra money available to pay for those pay rises. So the departments will have to find the money through cuts.
