The Influence of Religious and Scientific Theories on Public Policy
There are all kinds of different religious and scientific theories that can influence public policy. And right now, you know, I don't exactly see evolutionary spirituality as being a major influence on public policy. But there's two exceptions where these kind of theories are influencing public policy in very clear ways. One is on AI and AI risk and how we should treat the possible emergence of higher intelligence. The other area is around genetic modification. Malcolm and Simone Collins were the first couple to publicly admit to having used genetic modification technologies to choose a particular embryo for their child according to certain mental scores. They also develop their own religion which is basically that instead of God, they have their divine descendants.
