The Importance of Respect in Gangs
Some gangs have this very interesting ethic of looking out for certain members of their tribe who have the potential to get out and go far. So when they identify a guy in their ranks who has the opportunity for example he gets a basketball or football scholarship to go to college, he becomes an untouchable. That's really cool but then I learned that that's not the way it is with every gang but it is the culture and some of them. Interesting. The sad reality is there are so many gangs and so many members in those gangs that we're not yet having the large impact that we want to have.
