The Environmental Impact of Black Water as Fertilizer

The academy is expected to produce around ten tons of organic waste each year, which in turn will produce round one ton of humus. Food left overs, paper and cardboard are collected and composed into nutrent rich humus that can be used to fertilize trees and vegetables on the academy grounds. Drinking water comes from a well in the academy ground. The dry toilet system reduces the amount of black water produced, allowing for the ecological use of the resulting waste as fertilizer. This avoids hygiene problems that arise when this waste is disposed of in land fills.
