Ruth's First Night Home Alone

Ruth, now 48 years old is left to spend the night alone in her house for the first time in 30 years. She turns on the radio to distract herself, but all of the news on the radio is about Wichita's first serial killer and the seven victims he had so far murdered. A strange man who says, is this Ruth smock from a Fort Scott, Kansas? And she is surprised to hear her maiden name and to hear her old hometown. He then reads an article from an October 1946 issue of the Kansas newspaper, the Fort Scott Tribune, all about Ruth's horrifying attack.
