Is There a More a Mark of a Friend Than Being Wrong?
Aristotle says we have an obligation to suffer with our friends, but he doesn't make it the centerpiece of his account of friendship. Aristotle is willing to admit that even a virtuous person could have their happiness marred if they lost family members or he speaks of pre-arm losing his country. It's not just that we want to say that's true, that tragedy can impact happiness. Some of the best friendships can be born in those moments.
