The Importance of Intrinsic Motivation in Education

When someone feels intrinsically motivated, they are happier, their sense of self is improved and they have more confidence in what they are doing. But despite all these findings about the importance of intrinsic motivation, we can see through the research across multiple countries that intrinsic motivation actually tends to decline over school years. So further researchers Ryan and Desi who came up with self-determination theory, they say that this suggests that schools are not creating the need support of context that foster this inner resource of intrinsic motivation. We're just not doing it in schools. Now that can come from the leadership, I'm sure many of you listening to this going, how am I supposed to do this with also teaching the content
