The Ulster Unionist Party took Beatty as trying to move the dial. But taking this action, they've moved the assembly closer to a simple majority governance - which is bad news for DUP and unions. They couldn't help themselves because of who they were going to be aligned with in Brexit. And there is a kind of a case to be made for the DUPification of the world.
