When oppenheimer and the manhattan project gang were about to test these weapons, this was a real worry. They had to be like, the chances that that would happen are like one in a million. And every time we come up with a new technology that might pose an accidential risk to our species, we're going to have to go through that kind of thing. There's a really great podcast on this called josh clark's the end of the world which i think would go into this in a lot more detail. It could be that, because of these kinds of things, our species just only exist for a finite amount of time.
