Water Holding Capacity in the Soil

In California, you get rains only for a short period of time in the springtime. We've got to build large holding vessels in the soil called large empty voids in the soil that will fill up partway with water. If you use chlorinated, chloramine-nated water on your soil, it's going to kill the biology in your soil. People who drink kombucha or any one of the fermented drinks with lots of lactobacillus and lots of these organisms, anaerobic organisms in it can be part of the solution.
