The Sorieties Paradox

In the case of the sorieties paradox, how many grains of sand make up a heap? I mean, this has been a problem for thousands of years that people have been grappling with. Some philosophers responded to this problem by conceptual analysis in the sense that they thought about what a heap was. But you sort of miss the more important points where vagueness comes in and the sorieties condition. So wheeling out a definition of a heap is avoiding the problem.
