The State of the Freedom of the Press
Mr. Ram: I think the argument put up by the state was deplorable. And I think it has been found wanting in this judgment as well. On the whole, certainly not because a large section of Indian news media are now playing a propaganda role for various complex reasons. But there are spaces which should not be undervalued because they function independently and vigorously, robustly. There's nothing wrong in challenging the so-called establishment, provided you do your journalism well. Just by somebody saying your anti-establishment doesn't mean they can suppress your right to freedom of press.
