The Battle of Waxaw

Marian was practically the only officer left in south carolina. He organized a small force of no more than a hundred volunteers to carry on the fight, though for how long and to what end they did not yet know. The most famous unit was the british legion, a unit composed entirely of american volunteers under the command of bannister tarleton. Tarleton's raiders earned instant infamy in the patriot presses for their conduct during the battle of waxaws which soon became known as the waxaw massacre.
