While the west is cheering for turkey's modernization, we start sewing the sort of weird undercurrent where people who are genuinely religious are being repressed. There are no rules that in any government agency or in any major corporation that yow are religious and a fewa r using prayer beads. But it's well understood by everybody that if you want to advance in this society now, you have to appear ios. This is generating a lot of resentment.
