I think there is a certain risk with ways of working which are emotive that perhaps avoid beauty, avoid the niceness of something or the fine tuning of craft. There's a lot that gets jettisoned and I'm not sure that's always a good thing. You know that one's left with things that are quite awkward and difficult and may even be ugly. And what does that say? The hope as the artist speaking is that perhaps being an alive artist, contemporary artist, we're kind of giving evidence of what it is to be alive now.
