Are We Just Hopeing That People Find That Out?
When you deco a new word, a word that's new to you, you are effectively hunting for the sounds that have been encoded. And because we all do that, and we know we do that, i think we assume that the rational behind it is either known, or even perhaps that the rational isn't important. I would advocate that synthetic phonics is still very likely to be the simplest way of understanding this phonic material but i'd have some level of er respect for the nuance of that argument.
