The Universal Condemnation of Usury

The universal condemnation of usury comes from a culture in which money was lent at interest to people who were planning to use that money to satisfy needs, immediate needs. Credit cards should not be extending unsecured loans to people who are using them to pay their bills. And also, lending money at high interest rates is usurious because any kind of return that is not related to the investment potential of the money, but intended to be exploitative, is still unethical. Pup francis had a wonderful conference on modern abuses of usury just last year. It's a serious problem throughout the whole world.
