When we think about something or something comes into our awareness, if someone mentions schizophrenia or suicide, those are triggers for me to go back into that old alarm. So this is why when we have worries, when we're in alarm, they appear real to us because it's shut off our ability to be rational. You've got to see that you're in a survival state when you get into alarm. And once you develop an awareness of that alarm, then you can have a choice. I'm going to connect with that alarm as opposed to going up into your head"
