The Triumph of the Cross Over the Crescent
The crusades are more remembered than the countless constant other wars that were being fought by all of these powers at the same time and before and after. They for whatever reason they have stuck with us and are more seem to be more mobilizing than any other war. It's a very effective shorthand for the West, attacking us, killing our people, taking our land. And that's why it's a very attractive potent symbol.
