I think too that this happens a lot when you start to get into, for example, discourse on the line between science and pseudoscience. What we can say about things for which we have some unknowns or we don't have final resolved facts is informed by the likelihood of what might be true or false based on a whole existing body of knowledge. That goes on in science. It goes on in intellectual pursuits. And I think that what happens with a really conspiratorial mindset or the mindset of someone who is captivated by pseudoscience is that a lot of those sorts of categories and processes for thinking things through get distorted.
