In this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase to get a feel for something. When you get a feel for something, it means you do something until you know how to do it better. Here's a couple of examples. When I first made a cake and I put icing on the cake, I didn't do a very good job. I needed to do it a few times to get a feel for it. When I was younger, I worked for my uncle and he poured concrete and you would use a trowel to smooth out the concrete, and it took a while to get a feel for it. It took a while to learn how to do it well. So when you try to get a feel for something, it means you're doing something that's new to you and you're going to do it over and over again until you understand how to do it really, really well.

The second phrase I wanted to teach you today is the phrase to feel like a million bucks. I feel like a million bucks today. I slept really good last night and I feel really, really good. This is just one way that we describe when we're feeling energetic, when we're feeling well rested. When you just feel really, really good, you say I feel like a million bucks. Often if you're sick and then when you start to feel better, eventually you feel a lot better and you would say, I feel like a million bucks.
So to review, when you get a feel for something, it means you do it over and over again until you're good at it. Maybe it's a task that you do with your hands. I'm moving my hand a lot when I'm talking about this because there are a lot of things where you need to get a feel for it like icing a cake or smoothing out fresh concrete. And when you say that you feel like a million bucks, it means that you just feel really, really good. You're having a good day. You're well rested and you just feel awesome. You feel like a million bucks.
But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from Snazzy. The flowers are awesome. I wish I could touch and feel them and probably smell them. Amazing lesson as always. And my response, it's fun to see them, but it's also nice once they're all gone and it's December and I'm just sitting in my warm house watching the snow fall.
So thanks, Snazzy, for that comment. And I do truly mean that. We love flowers. We love growing the flowers. We love harvesting and selling them, but after a long season, we do look forward to the time where we're just sitting in the house with our feet up, watching snow fall outside and just enjoying the winter season. We don't want that yet though. Like I mentioned in my other videos, we do want flowers to keep growing for a few more weeks, but certainly it is a nice feeling when it's all done and we don't have to worry too much about what's happening outside and we can just relax a little bit.
Hey, I came to this creek last spring, I'm trying to turn my camera around and it was flowing. There was lots of water flowing over the little weir that they have here, but you can see now there's just a tiny bit of water flowing. We've been getting quite a bit of rain. So I'm kind of surprised that it's not a torrent of water right now, but it certainly is drier than I expected.
