Mingaria: A Novel About Nationalism
The Ottoman Empire was forced willing to reform itself and give liberty to its second-class citizens, Christians and Jews. The more freedom they got, the class distinction between Muslims and Christians get bigger. That is a dilemma or irony that still hovers around in my part of the world. And it also links to the question of nationalism and nation-state building. Part way through the novel, Mingaria becomes an independent nation-state.
