A bank run is when a lot of people show up to the bank and say, I want my money right now. And that's how this system can fall apart. This is exactly what happened to Silicon Valley Bank and those other US banks. The reserve requirement for all deposit institutions was set to 0% of eligible deposits by March 2020.
