Introduction
Antoine Michael Jousta was a Belgian valet under President John Quincy Adams. He arranged Andrew Jackson's inauguration reception in 1829. As the White House steward, it is his duty to ensure guests have everything they need. But when thousands of people pour into Washington on March 4, he has no choice but to close the doors and lock them shut.
